Parks and Rec feels like a rom com

L'il Sebastian finally enters the scene

Big news this week here on Park It — it’s time for another rebrand!! My very talented friend Claire is excellent and doodles and whipped me up some new logos:

I LOVED my old ones, but I couldn’t figure out a photoshopped or ChatGPT configured version that understood me when I said “doodle L’il Sebastian next to a park bench in a TV-shaped National Parks inspired logo.” Claire, however, understood the assignment exactly. I will absolutely be making stickers of these.

It’s also so fitting that we’re debuting the rebrand this week because … it’s time for our intro to: The One. The Only. L’il Sebastian.

L’il Sebastian makes his first appearance in the “Harvest Festival” episode of Parks and Rec. “Harvest Festival” is indubitably on my Mt. Rushmore of P&R episodes, so of course I had to bring back my good pal,

, to discuss. We have a very ~ wide ranging conversation ~ about everything from the use Tom Petty’s “American Girl” at the perfect moment, Andy + April’s relationship issues, the first sparks of Ben and Leslie, and — of course — L'il Sebastian.

In case this is the first time you’re meeting Jennifer on Park It, you’re in luck! She’s currently cranking away on a book about Parks and Rec that comes out next year, so she’s been interviewing the cast, crew, and writers. She’s co-runs a Substack called Ministry of Pop Culture, where she recently released an interview with P&R writer Dan Goor that deep dives into the influence of L’il Sebastian:

Ministry of Pop Culture
Behind the Episodes: The Life and Death of Li'l Sebastian on 'Parks and Rec'
