This cute little company I work for just released a mobile editor so I can write posts from my phone and I love it already. All employees did test posts for our company blog w/ a list of 5 things - anything you want, as long as it was hyper-specific to you. One person did hikes, one person recommended dentists in Dallas, one person ranked Taco Bell orders. I, classically, ranked people being silly on TV.
Reposting mine below for a special Friday edition of Park It! I’m always that friend who’s got a mile-long list of old SNL recs the minute we settle in to watch YouTube so I’m sharing my list of certified crowd pleasers. The ONLY thing that makes me laugh harder than character breaks is people falling. I know I KNOW: it’s not Parks and Rec. But staying on topic’s never stopped me before ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This is your sign to get a little schwasty with your friends and watch these this weekend. You’re welcome for a guaranteed 30 minutes of pants peeing. Happy weekend!
Debbie Downer - arguably the best character break of all time!!! “Womp womp” and “Debbie Downer” are now so widespread in our vernacular that we forget their roots, but this sketch is their origin story. My friends and I say “womp womp” the minute anyone brings the vibe down (arguably we pull the “womp womp” trigger too soon and it’s getting inappropriate).
Beavis and Butthead - my dad used to watch the cartoon so I’m was familiar w/ these two fools (which I think is necessary for the sketch to really land) pre-sketch. When Heidi Gardner turns around to see Mikey Day’s exposed gums, I lose my mind every single time. 6 minutes of unhinged mayhem.
Lisa from Temecula - a less well-known recent fave is Lisa from Temecula, who shakes a table while cutting an EXTREMELY well done steak. Bowen’s laughing, host Pedro Pascal can’t even get through his lines, and even Ego Nwodim struggles to keep it together.
Close Encounter - back with Ryan Gosling again but this time it’s in the form of an alien encounter (this guy can’t keep it together to save his life),” accompanied by compatriots Kate McKinnon and Cecily Strong. “I dropped down 7 feet onto the roof of a Long John Silver’s. My slacks landed in a frickin pine tree, so I had to just chill up there, with my damn coot coot and prune shoot hanging out till the place opened up” is 🤌
Super Showcase Spokesmodels - Kristen Wiig. Maya Rudolph. Golf cart? Pebble Beach. That’s the chicken man guarantee.
PLEASE tell me what I missed!!
Hot tub lovers with Will Ferrell and Jimmy Fallon, and Bill Hader as Stefon were both hilarious character breaks too.
Not a womp womp
